Katy F. Miner
Writer, Writing Coach, Developmental Editor
About
I believe the world becomes a better place when more people's voices are added to it. In my work as a writing coach and developmental editor, I deeply enjoy helping people to find their voices and learn how to present them in the strongest and most effective means possible.
I received an M.F.A. from the Creative Writing Program at the University of Houston, where I studied with Nobel-prize winner J. M. Coetzee, Pulitzer-prize winner Colson Whitehead, Chitra Divakaruni, Mary Gaitskill, and many others. I won a PEN Texas Award for Essays and was nominated for a Pushcart prize. My work has been published in Louisiana Literature, Explorations, Texas Highways Magazine website, and area newspapers where I was a columnist and reporter for several years. I received my undergraduate degree at Rice University as a National Merit Scholar, majoring in Political Science. I taught writing for several years at the University of Houston, Inprint, and Sherrie Glass/Reading Consultant, helping clients from age 6 to 70.

Testimonials
“Like some kind of magician, Katy Miner has an uncanny ability to read what isn’t there—what you meant to say, or thought you said, or should have said. Whether pointing out a misplaced comma or opening an esoteric discussion about your theme, she will never make an actual change in your manuscript. Instead, she inserts articulate, reasoned suggestions, always keeping the writer at the helm.”
Leah Lax, author/librettist, Uncovered: How I Left Hasidic Life and Finally Came Home
“Katy helped my son improve the structure and content of his college essays in a positive and supportive manner. Her input was invaluable in creating an essay that would stand out to admissions officers.”
Colleen Morris, mother of a Rice University student
